The Colour Society of Australia was inaugurated in July 1987 and has divisions in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia and Tasmania.
The Society is a member body of the Association Internationale de la Couleur (AIC) and is a member of CIE Australia (Commission Internationale de I'Eclairage). It has representatives on Standards Australia committees and is affiliated with the Powerhouse Museum of Sydney.
Divisional meetings are independently organised in each state.
