Conference Theme and Outline
In our Conference we want to explore the many ways in which we see colour, what it means, and how a better understanding can lead to successful use of colour in all walks of life, locations, situations, lighting conditions, design and the built environment.
During Day 1 whilst exploring Melbourne from our venue in Southgate, colour and how it is used in the City environment will be explored. We are working on a mixture of colourful tours that can be booked taking in Textiles, Architecture and Landscapes. For those who seek informality there will be self guided ones where we will point you in the direction of colour experiences offering great variety. Delegates will be encouraged to record their most colourful observations with digital photographs enabling us to build up a conference compendium for the day.
The Welcome Reception in the early evening will be a chance to talk about this with fellow delegates and meet up with colourful friends.
Day 2 will open with a Keynote Address with a distinct focus on the evolution of colour for the artist that will add to our knowledge of Perception and Colour and be a stimulating prelude to the morning presentations that will develop on this and address areas of the conference Theme. The afternoon session will open with a Keynote Address looking at perception of colour in the landscape and followed by exploration of this in imaginative architecture. Finally the presentations will cover analysis of colour in relation to perception.
We are pleased to announce that Morning and Afternoon Tea and Lunch are sponsored by Haymes Paints.
Day 2 will be topped out by the Conference Dinner to be held at Pure South Dining in Southgate in their dining room that overlooks the River Yarra and Flinders Street Station.
We are pleased to announce that the dinner is sponsored by Dulux
Day 3 will open with a Keynote Speech covering lighting and its relationship with colour perception followed by a review of lighting in the environment. The remainder of the day will be an eclectic mix of presentations and workshops to draw together the colour experiences of the previous 2 days and therefore create individual experiences of colour perception. This we hope will result in entertaining memories linked to a deeper understanding of the place colour holds in all of our lives.
Many of the Workshops will be running for all 3 days and be very hands on and require analysis and imagination so visiting our individual colour evolution.
We are pleased to announce that Morning and Afternoon Tea and Lunch are sponsored by The Society of Dyers and Colourists of Australia and New Zealand (SDCANZ).
